Tales from Rostra

An interesting story with narrative-altering choices

Tales from Rostra is a 2D top-down, turn-based RPG developed in Unity. The development team included Mohammad Ayyad, Andre Daviau, Sean Fowke, Domara Shlimon, Dylan Tuck, and myself. With Mohammad as the team lead, we each developed different aspect of the game in order to bring it to life; I handled the creation of the game’s inventory system and the game’s soundtrack.

Having plenty of experience with inventory systems in games, I based Rostra’s off of a system I had previously built in GameMaker for my own personal projects at the time. It is a list-based inventory; displaying it vertically and scrolling the currently viewable region as the player moves through it. Each item has its functionalities based on its “type”. Some are able to be equipped, can be consumed, store multiple per-slot, and even used in the overworld.
